Anish Kapoor 'Islamic mirror' sculpture

The Indian artist conceived this stunning geometry tessellated dome consisting on thousands of stainless steel polygonal pieces (hexagons and squares) wrapped around a 2.35 m diameter half-sphere. The resulting mirror composes an extraordinary sculpture reflecting thousands of different small reflections of the own observer. Complex mathematical calculations were performed to define this stunning geometry, which can be enjoyed today by the public in a Spanish cloister. This geometrical investigation is still going on and more sculptures are under way.
